Peta is an AHPRA endorsed Clinical Psychologist with over 10 year’s experience providing therapy across public and private settings. Peta has for many years provided psychological treatments to young people admitted to hospital with health and mental health conditions. Peta then established New Wave Psychology, a private practice which works with people individually, and in groups, to cope with the emotional, social and behavioural impacts of illness and stress.

Peta completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Australian National University and has extensive experience delivering new wave cognitive therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Peta’s practice is driven by a human rights perspective is trauma informed and family centred. The culmination of Peta’s research interests in social psychology, previous occupation as an outdoor instructor and expertise in child and family therapy has led her to develop and deliver Adventure Therapy Programs in the ACT. Peta is an experienced Play Therapist, is trained in Newborn Behavioural Observation (NBO) and uses these approaches in her support of parents and children experiencing a range of health and mental health issues including anxiety, depression, functional neurological symptoms, pain and eating disorders. Peta also provides treatment for and is a proficient administrator of cognitive/learning assessments and readily works with people of all ages.

Peta delivers training and supervision for early career psychologists, guest lectures at local universities and continues to be involved in research to further the fields understanding of what makes the practice of psychologists more effective.

Payton Soussa

Payton Soussa

Payton is an AHPRA endorsed Clinical Psychologist who has experience working with young people and their families. She completed her Master of Clinical Psychology degree from the Australian National University and has since spent time working in private and public settings. Payton helps people with various mental and physical health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, pain, eating disorders, trauma, ADHD and behavioral difficulties. Prior to working as a psychologist, Payton was a youth drug and alcohol worker, and behavioural therapist for children with Autism.

While utilizing evidence-based therapies, Payton applies a relaxed approach, believing therapy should be creative, dynamic, and enjoyable. She promotes client strengths to help them overcome challenges and strives to create a safe and non-judgmental space. Payton works with each client to create a unique treatment plan, that helps the client understand their experiences as well as learn individualised coping skills.

Payton draws on therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Based Therapy (FBT), and Motivational Interview (MI). Payton is also trained in administering cognitive/learning assessments for people of all ages. Payton offers individual, family and group-based interventions.
